Passion: Growth and development

In any organization, people are the most valuable asset. Unlike other assets that are tracked and measured, people are the only ones that can grow and increase their capacity to contribute value over time. This is achieved by boosting their knowledge, skills, abilities, and level of engagement. Effective leaders understand this and focus on attracting and retaining top-quality individuals, knowing that they are the foundation of their organization’s success – both in the short and long term.

For nearly forty years, I’ve worked in people development, spanning roles such as teacher, supervisor, coach, diversity leader, and HR professional. Over the past thirty years, I’ve combined these roles in various ways. I am a strong advocate and dedicated facilitator of organizational and people optimization—organizations achieving their full potential through the people achieving theirs. At the core of this philosophy is the principle and practice of ‘employee driven leader guided’ performance leadership and personal-professional development.

The source of my greatest joy in people and organizational development is my family—my best friend and companion of almost thirty-six years (Pamela), our eight children (eleven including in-laws), and six (soon to be eight) grandchildren. When asked why I had eight children, I usually responds one of two ways. We didn’t want nine. Or eight is enough. (Thank you ‘Eight is Enough’ comedy-drama series for a nice line to quote.) Joking aside I am proud of my children and who they are becoming! They are very distinct individual people (not a repeater among them) and I’m thrilled with how they are growing and striving to become the best version of themselves.
