There are two principles that apply in compensation. First, you get what you pay for, so if you want an average team, pay the average competitive rates. However, if you want 75%-90% performance, you better be prepared to pay in those market ranges. Second, don’t give away the bank. In other words, compete for the talent you need and not necessarily the talent you want.
